A lp smartside & wood job, wall by wall
Engineered wood gives a genuine wood grain at less weight and less cost than fiber cement, and it installs faster. Its one requirement is that every cut end is sealed before it goes on the wall, because that is where moisture gets into the substrate.
Ground clearance is the other detail. Engineered wood needs a specified gap above grade and above roof surfaces, and siding run down to the dirt will fail at the bottom course regardless of how well the rest was done.
